I finished this shape over the weekend for Seth, Wave Tribe’s VP of Sales. Seth gave up his life in education last year when I offered him to join the Tribe, kind of a crazy proposition because I didn’t promise him much money, nor could I guarantee him a future, but he jumped and he has been an integral part of our success. I honor Seth’s commitment to Wave Tribe’s vision, his dedication to surfing and his all around good nature.

I really enjoy shaping boards for my friends, it let’s me express my gratitude for the friendship without having to say much, nothing like handing a friend some new foam and watching them paddle it out for the first time.

It was quite a festival, mixing music and surf is a very natural combination, especially around the Wave Tribe Crew. Sometimes when I look around our offices in Ventura I can’t figure out if we are a surf products company or a music company, we’ve got instruments in every corner and there always seems to be some melody echoing in the background.

Ashley came on down and participated in the jam, and word has it that she and the VP of Sales at Wave Tribe scored some good waves at little Rincon between sets.

Amanda got on stage, dressed to kill in a beautiful green dress—eco surf products company—nice choice of color darling. Rory was rocking on the guitar and offered up some great licks. Wetsand offered a wonderful locale for laying down the festival, the crowd was thick, nothing like being surrounded by new boards and green product while delivering a musical bonanza.

Wave Tribe donated one of its Hemp Boardbags to the Oak Grove Elementary School in Ojai in its aim to educate the up-and-coming rippers out there.

The children styled out the bags with some unique art and raffled the hemp canvas as part of Earth Day celebrations.

Wave Tribe aims to raise awareness around environmental issues by supporting local schools, business, and individuals—be the change you desire.

After some research we came across Nikwax water proofing solution, which is environmentally safe and tested it on our bags, I must say that I was skeptical but pleasantly surprised by the results.

Most water repellents contain fluorocarbons and we at Wave Tribe could not justify water proofing with those nasty chemicals, fluorocarbon water-repellents contain nar-nar chemicals that are damaging to the environment and humans.

Many people have told us to just waterproof the Hemp at the factory, but if we did this we would be dumping lots of unnecessary chemicals into the environment and thus we offer Nikwax as an add on if you want or need it because of your location or climate - the majority of our customers don’t need it and thus we can’t justify using all those chems. Nikwax is a great alternative and fits nicely with our bags:

• No chemical solvents.
• No Fluorocarbons.
• Non-toxic, non-flammable and do not expel fumes.
• Products are not tested on animals and the packaging is recyclable.

We’ve tested it out and high recommend it for our bags, we’ll be offering it by the end of the month if you’d like to purchase it, here is a film of the application process and this film shows you the excellent results:
